Guelph Millennium Crowns

Guelph Millennium Crowns

[description action="start"]

Guelph Millennium is a delicious, all-male variety developed at the University of Guelph. Once established, expect high yields of purple-tipped green spears from a late season crop that may extend into June. Guelph Millennium received an RHS Award of Garden Merit, and is probably the cold-hardiest asparagus of all, so it does well in cool climates. Plant asparagus crowns in rich soil, covered by 5-8cm (2-3") of soil. Plant them four weeks before your last average frost date. This variety will grow 150cm (59") tall, with a spread of 45cm (18"), so space them with room to grow out from the centre. Leave the plants to develop and grow strong during the first year, and harvest from year two on. These are two year crowns. Each crown is composed of a central group of stems surrounded by dangling, finger-like roots.

If the crowns arrive before you can plant them in your region, plant them in soil in containers and keep cold until transplant time.

Seasonal item shipping: Items shipped at specific times of the year such as garlic, potatoes, onion sets, asparagus crowns, mason bee cocoons, nematodes and flower bulbs require special handling. They will be shipped separately as a new order with the applicable regional shipping charges applies. Whenever possible, we will combine you orders to minimize shipping charges.
